Yachting Malta Showcases Malta’s Yachting Strengths at Boot Düsseldorf

Boot Düsseldorf, Europe’s largest marine exhibition, once again provided an important international platform for Malta’s yachting sector, with Yachting Malta taking part through a dedicated stand hosted in collaboration with Visit Malta and the Malta Ship Registry

The Malta stand attracted a steady flow of international visitors, many of whom were keen to learn more about Malta’s yachting infrastructure, services and year-round sailing potential. This year’s presence was further strengthened through the participation of the Malta Young Sailors Club and the Royal Malta Yacht Club Sailing School, following an opportunity extended to all local sailing schools, to collectively promote Malta as an ideal winter training destination for sailors and teams from across Europe.

Beyond destination marketing, Yachting Malta’s participation at Boot Düsseldorf served as a valuable networking hub, supporting several strategic areas central to its ongoing work. Discussions focused on positioning Malta as a leading sailing destination, advancing inclusivity within the sport—particularly through initiatives linked to the Hansa 303 class—while also exploring opportunities related to women in sailing and the long-term development of emerging Olympic sailing classes at a local level.

The presence of the Malta flag at the exhibition generated notable interest, with the Malta Ship Registry playing a key role in highlighting the importance of the maritime register as a cornerstone of Malta’s yachting and maritime ecosystem. Together, these elements reinforced the message that yachting is not only a sporting and lifestyle asset, but a significant pillar of the Maltese economy.

Interest at the Malta stand also extended to Malta’s marina infrastructure, with increased enquiries from visiting crews and yacht owners regarding berthing options, services and facilities across the islands. Discussions highlighted Malta’s ability to accommodate both short-term visitors and longer winter stays, further underlining the role of local marinas in supporting the country’s growing appeal as a hub for international yachting activity.

Commenting on Malta’s participation, Yachting Malta CEO Michael Mifsud said that “Yachting Malta and its stakeholders’ presence at Boot Düsseldorf reflected the organisation’s holistic approach to international promotion”. He noted that Malta continues to distinguish itself not only through one of Europe’s most reputable flags, but also through the quality of facilities, services and opportunities offered to yacht owners and sailors visiting the islands.

Yachting Malta’s participation at Boot Düsseldorf was made possible through the support of Visit Malta, underlining the strong collaboration between national stakeholders in promoting Malta’s yachting sector abroad and strengthening the country’s profile as a competitive, forward-looking maritime destination.
