The Yachting Malta Race Week returns to Malta between the 17th May and 2nd June will consist of a variety of events which will include sailing, yachting and windsurfing. The Race Week will involve all local yacht and sailing clubs, with all events held under the auspices of the Malta Sailing Federation.
The Yachting Malta Race Week promises to be a showcase of some of Malta’s existing talent and promising athletes as they compete in their respective sport.
Programme of Events
Foiling 100 | 17th, 18th, 19th May
Designated as the opening event of the Yachting Malta Race Week, Foiling 100 is being organised by Malta Young Sailors Club and will consist of a 100km foiling race for 8 IQ Foil windsurfers from St. Paul’s Bay to Marina di Ragusa.
Inclusive Sailing
Royal Malta Yacht Club | Saturday 18th May
Event co-ordinated by Yachting Malta and the Royal Malta Yacht Club with the involvement of all local sailing Clubs. Malta’s fleet of Hansa 303 boats will be used for this event. The Hansa 303 class boat is a popular choice in adaptive sailing and para sailing competitions, and has been designed with accessibility in mind.
Steering The Course
Royal Malta Yacht Club | afternoons – 21st, 22nd 23rd May
A World Sailing Initiative aimed towards encouraging more participation by women in Sailing, will take place at the Royal Malta Yacht Club Afternoons on 21st, 22nd and 23rd May.
National Dinghy Ranking Regatta
Royal Malta Yacht Club | 25th – 26th May
All local dinghy sailing clubs will be hosted by the Royal Malta Yacht Club for a two-day ranking regatta.
Keelboat & SportBoat Regatta
Marsamxett Harbour | 25th – 26th May
Co-hosted by the Royal Malta Yacht Club and the SB20 Malta Association, the regatta will take place over two days. For the SB20 Class, this will be another event in preparation for the 2024 European SB20 Championships taking place in Malta later on in the year.
Round Malta Cruisers’ Rally
Co-Ordinated by Malta Cruising Club | 30th May – 2nd June
The Yachting Malta Race Week will wrap up with a Round Malta Cruisers’ Rally and will tie in with the European Maritime Day. The Rally, which is being co-ordinated by the Malta Cruising Club, will see the involvement of all local sailing Clubs. The Rally will kick off with a Briefing and Crew Party hosted by Vikings Sailing Club. The first leg will see a departure to Birzebbugia where the fleet will spend the night on anchor and hosted by Birzebbugia Sailing Club. The second leg will see the fleet make their way to St. Paul’s Bay where they will be hosted by Malta Young Sailors’ Club. The final leg will be from St. Paul’s Bay to Marsamxett where a prize giving evening will be hosted by the Royal Malta Yacht Club.
